Dear colleagues,
We would be most grateful if you
could circulate an
upcoming event of the Woolf Institute:
CENTRE
FOR THE STUDY OF MUSLIM-JEWISH RELATIONS
Open
Lecture
‘Islamists and the Egyptian
Revolution’
Dr. Ewan Stein
(Edinburgh University)
Wednesday, 9
November 2011, 17.00
Dining Hall, Wesley House, Jesus Lane
The talk will focus on the revival of
Islamist political action in Egypt
following the January 25 Revolution. It compares the fortunes of
the main
Islamist trends prior to, and following, January 25, 2011 and
highlights the
significance of renewed Islamist activity for Egypt's political
development as
a whole.
Dr Ewan Stein is
lecturer at the
School of Social and Political Science at the University of
Edinburgh.
His research interests
include
political Islam, the role of ideas in foreign policy and
international
relations, state-society relations and the links between social
and normative
change in Middle Eastern regional politics. He is particularly
interested
in these questions as they relate to the modern history, sociology
and foreign
policy of Egypt, including Egypt's shifting role in the broader
Arab-Israeli
conflict.
ALL
WELCOME!
Thank you very much.
Best wishes,
Tina
